A-1 Country : Legoullon Photography

A-1 Country is inspired by a convergence of interests relating to Arizona history, symbolic iconography and the fulfilling beverage we collectively enjoy – beer. Through researching the history of brewing within Arizona, LeGoullon became intrigued with the story of The Arizona Brewing Company as well as its flagship beer, A-1, a true symbol of southwest beer-drinking culture. As the most prolific brewery ever to operate in the state, The Arizona Brewing Company still remains the prominent portrait of Arizona’s brewing history and is remembered by some for it's famous slogan, "The Western Way To Say Welcome." Though many people have never heard of the brewery itself, its emblematic history, the evolution of its branding, and the symbolic narrative of A-1 have become primary influences on LeGoullon’s "A-1 Country" works.
